چکیده

We derive and evaluate expressions for the dc tunneling conductance between interacting two-dimensional electron systems at non-zero temperature. The possibility of using the dependence of the tunneling conductance on voltage and temperature to determine the temperature-dependent electronelectron scattering rate at the Fermi energy is discussed. The finite electronic lifetime produced by electron-electron interactions is calculated as a function of temperature for quasiparticles near the Fermi circle. Vertex corrections to the random phase approximation substantially increase the electronic scattering rate. Our results are in an excellent quantitative agreement with experiment. اثرات بس ذره‌ای در مایعات الکترونی ابعاد کم

This review article is about the role of electron-electron interactions in low dimensional systems and its transport properties in nano-structures. It begins with a review of the pair-distribution function theory of electron liquid systems taking into account the electron-electron interactions. We extend the theory for highly correlated system such two- and one-dimensional electron liquids. We...

Room Temperature Hydrogen Sensor Based on Single-Electron Tunneling Between Palladium Nanoparticles

In this paper, we present the results of single-electron tunneling in two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal closed packed arrays of palladium nanoparticles. After inspecting the emergence of Coulomb blockade phenomena, we demonstrate the possibilities of using these arrays as a single-electron tunneling based hydrogen sensor. We assumed arrays of palladium nanoparticles with diameters of 3.5 and 6...

Local Field Correction Effect on Dicluster Stopping Power in a Strongly Coupled Two-Dimensional Electron Gas System

We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...

Tunneling between two-dimensional electron gases in a strong magnetic field.

We have measured the tunneling between two two-dimensional electron gases at high magnetic fields B, when the carrier densities of the two electron layers are matched. For filling factors ν < 1, there is a gap in the current-voltage characteristics centered about V = 0, followed by a tunneling peak at ∼ 6 mV. Both features have been observed before and have been attributed to electron-electron ...

Tunneling into a two-dimensional electron system in a strong magnetic field.

We investigate the properties of the one-electron Green’s function in an interacting two-dimensional electron system in a strong magnetic field, which describes an electron tunneling into such a system. From finite-size diagonalization, we find that its spectral weight is suppressed near zero energy, reaches a maximum at an energy of about 0.2e/ǫlc, and decays exponentially at higher energies. ...
